Eligibility requirements for ONGC ‘Graduate Trainee’ Selection Test

ONGC considers Graduation or Post Graduation qualification for the post of ‘Graduate Trainee’ in its various departments. For instance, those who have completed Graduation in Civil Engineering can apply for this post in the Civil department. Similarly, those who have completed MBA in Human Resources are eligible to apply for HR department. They should have obtained first class mark in qualifying exam. Maximum age limit of applicant must be 30 years.

Eligibility Criterion

Candidates who possess the following educational qualification can apply for the post of Graduate Trainee in below mentioned departments of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited. Candidates are required to have a minimum of 60% marks in qualifying examination.

Reservoir: Candidates who have completed post graduation in any of the following subjects are eligible to apply for this post.

  • Geology
  • Chemistry
  • Geophysics
  • Mathematics
  • Petroleum Technology

Such candidates should have studied Physics or Mathematics in their Graduation. Apart from this, those who have completed graduation in Petroleum/ Chemical engineering can also apply for this post.

Chemistry: Graduation in chemical engineering or Masters’ degree in Chemistry is a must to apply.

Programming: Graduates in Computer Engineering or post graduation in Computer science/ Computer Applications are eligible to apply. Those who have B level diploma certificate issued by the Department of Electronics, Government of India can also apply for this post.

Production: Chemical/ Petroleum or Mechanical Engineers can apply for this post.

Drilling/ Cementing : Graduation in Petroleum or Mechanical Engineering is a must.

Mechanical: Only those who have completed graduation in Mechanical Engineering are allowed to apply.

Electrical: B.Tech/ B E in Electrical Engineering qualification is a must. Apart from this, candidates should have certificates of competency as Electrical Supervisor.

Electronics and Telecommunications: Engineering Degree in Electronics and Telecommunications or Post graduation in Physics with Electronics can apply.

Instrumentation: Graduation in Instrumentation Engineering is required.

Civil: B E or B.Tech in Civil Engineers can apply

Transport: Graduation in Automobile or Mechanical Engineering is the minimum qualification required to apply for this post.

Finance and Accounts: Graduation in any discipline with CA or ICWA is a must. Candidates who have completed MBA with specialization in Finance can also apply.

Human Resources: MBA with specialization in Human Resources or Post Graduation in Industrial Relations/ Personnel Management/ Labour Welfare can apply

Material Management: Engineering degree in any of the following disciplines is required.

  • Chemical
  • Mechanical
  • Petroleum
  • Automobile
  • Electrical
  • Instrumentation
  • Civil
  • Electronics
  • Telecom
  • Computer Engineering

MBA graduates having specialization in Materials Management or Inventory Control can also apply for this post. Graduates having PG diploma in Materials Management from Indian Institute of Materials Management are also eligible.

Medical: Degree holders in MBBS along with valid Registration are eligible.

Age Restrictions

Upper age limit for all posts except Drilling and Cementing is 30 years. For the vacancies in Drilling and Cementing, maximum age limit is 28 years. Candidates belonging to reserved categories can enjoy relaxation in age limit as per the notification.
