How to become Post Graduate Teacher in NCERT?
Master degree holders with 50% marks are eligible for the position of Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) in NCERT (in the concerned subject). Selection of shortlisted candidates is done on the basis of an interview, conducted by NCERT itself.
Eligibility Criterion for Post Graduate Teacher in NCERT
Master of Science graduates from Regional Institute of Education of NCERT are considered for selection. M.Sc graduates from any other recognized University with 50% marks are also eligible. Such candidates should have obtained the qualification in any of the following subjects.
- For PGT in Mathematics — Mathematics/Applied Mathematics
- For PGT in Chemistry —– Chemistry/Bio-Chemistry
- For PGT in Political Science —- Political Science
- For PGT in Geography —- Geography
For Post Graduate Teacher in Commerce/English, master degree holders in the concerned subject (or related subjects) will be eligible. Eligible candidates having knowledge in computer applications are desirable. Those who are above 40 years of age are not eligible to apply.
Eligibility Criterion for Post Graduate Teacher (Computer Science) in NCERT
In case of Post Graduate Teacher (Computer Science), eligible candidate must have any of the following educational qualifications.
- Engineering graduation in Computer Science/IT
- Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Computer Science/IT
- Engineering Degree in any stream + Post Graduate Diploma in Computers
- Master of Science in Computer Science/IT
- Master of Computer Application
- B.Sc (Computer Science)/BCA + Post Graduate Degree in any discipline
- Post Graduate Diploma in Computer + Post Graduate degree in any discipline
- ‘A’ Level from DOEACC + Post Graduate degree in any discipline
- “B’ or ‘C’ Level from ‘DOEACC’ from the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology
The degree must be obtained from any recognized institution with a minimum of 50% marks. In this case also age of the candidate must be below 40 years. Only candidates with Indian nationality can apply.
Selection Procedure for Post Graduate Teacher in NCERT
Selection of suitable candidates is done through interview. Based on the academic performance of the candidate, they are shortlisted for interview. Those who can do well in the interview will be intimated with offer letter for appointment. Certificate verification is done at the day of interview itself.
Application form can be collected from the official web portal of NCERT. This must be filled up carefully and must be submitted to the address of the Secretary of NCERT. The application form posted must be enclosed with a DD of Rs. 500/-. This fee is collected for application processing and can be paid via any branch of State Bank of India.
