Pattern and Syllabus for Sardar Patel University Ph.D (English) Entrance Test

Master degree holders in English with a minimum of 50% marks can apply for Ph.D (English) Entrance Test in Sardar Patel University. There will be four sections for the entrance test. Syllabus of the entrance test comprises of questions on Teaching Aptitude, Research Aptitude, Reading Comprehension, Reasoning, English Language and Literature.

Structure of Ph.D (English) Entrance Test in Sardar Patel University

There will be four sections for the entrance test. Section I comprise of 10 objective model questions for 10 marks. Questions for the section are meant to evaluate candidate’s general knowledge and research aptitude.

In Section II, there will be 15 objective model questions for 15 marks. Questions for the section will be based on English language and literature.

There will be short-answer type questions in Section III. Candidate need to answer 5 out of a total of 8 questions for 20 marks. Each of the questions needs to be answered in not more than 40 words.

In Section IV, there will be four long-answer type questions, out of which candidate needs to answer only one. It should be answered in not more than 300 words for 15 marks.

Syllabus for Section II and III are same, but are of different patterns. Candidates need to score at least 50% marks in the entrance exam to qualify.
