hello,
i m doing msc in chemistry through annamalai university through distance education.i want to persue phd in the same ,,,nd thus want to know the entrance exams related with phd entrance.i too want to know about the best universities/institutions offering phd in chemistry,,,,nd wether each university conducts its separate entrance tests for phd ,,,or only one entrance test is required for all universities.
please let me know about the kind of questiones being asked in such exams ,,nd how can i prepare for them,,,also tell me ,,tht as i m doing msc through distance education,,,so will the syllabus of my course would differ from tht of the syllabus tht will be asked in the phd entrance?
nd lastly let me know if each university conducts its separate examination ,,will the syllabus be different for each exam.

Each institute/university conducts its own entrance exam for admission to Phd. course.

The syllabus of your course would not be much different from the syllabus of the Phd. entrance exam. Pay attention to the fundamentals. You can check the website of the institute/university for which you are applying, you will get all the details there & then you can prepare accordingly.

Mostly all the universities provide Ph. D in chemistry.
So each of them conducts their own separate entrance exam for it.
You have to appear for it. like BHU conducts its BHU CRATE for selection of PHD programe. You can also go for CSIR nET exam through it you will aso be selected for PHD programe.

In Madras University, Ph.d admission is done 4 times each year in every quarter.

In other Universities, it closes by July/August

Entrance test conducted by one University is not valid for other
In the entrance, questions are basically asked from your PG syllabus
A pass in PG with 50% marks is essential for applying Ph.D

If you intend to do M.Phil, then no need for writing entrance test.
Also, after qualifying M.Phil, you can skip the entrance for Ph.D admission

yes you can regester for Phd with AIC but you have to take the same specialisation. i think so.
