Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (JCECE) is conducted by JCECE Board for selecting candidates to engineering and medical degree courses. Intermediate (10 + 2) passed candidates can attend this competitive test, comprising of questions on Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology.  Qualified candidates in JCECE can seek admission in colleges like Birsa Institute of Technology, Dhanbad, Cambridge Institute of Technology, Ranchi and D.A.V. Institute of Engineering and Technology, Medininagar.

Eligibility Criteria for JCECE

Only those who are permanent/local residents of Jharkhand can apply. Aspirants seeking admission to B.Tech degree must have completed intermediate (10 + 2) with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Either Chemistry or Biology must be studied as optional subjects. Required qualification must be obtained with a minimum of 45% marks. Reserved category candidates need to score at least 40% marks only. Candidates of any age can apply to the course.

For admission to forestry and agriculture courses, eligible candidate must have completed HSC course with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects. Any of the subjects among Mathematics and Biology must be studied as optional subjects. Moreover, age of the candidate must fall somewhere between 17 and 22 years. Upper age limit for SC/ST candidates is 25 years.

In order to pursue courses related to animal husbandry and veterinary science, aspirants must have completed 12th class studies with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as compulsory subjects. Age criteria for these courses are same as that for forestry and agriculture courses.

Exam Pattern for JCECE

JCECE is conducted in two stages, prelims and finals. For the preliminary stage, questions are asked from subjects like physics, chemistry, mathematics and biology. Test is conducted in objective model. Total time allotted for the test is 2 hours 30 minutes and total marks for the 200 questions is one mark each.

Those who pass preliminary level exam will be evaluated for mains exam (that comprises two papers). Syllabus for final exam is same as that of prelims, but with higher level questions. Here, students seeking admission to medical courses should attend the paper covering questions on Physics, Chemistry and Biology whereas others should attend the paper comprising questions on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
