Orthopaedics or orthopaedic surgery is the branch of science of surgery concerned with the conditions dealing with the muscular skeletal system. Orthopaedic surgeons use means of both, surgery and non-surgery to treat and cure musculoskeletal problems, injuries to sportspersons, degenerative diseases, infections, and tumours and congenital disorders. All the matters of muscles and bones in the human body are dealt with by orthopaedic surgeons or specialists. The study of orthopaedics as an educational course has been divided into few prestigious degrees and certifications. MPT in Orthopaedics stands for the coveted degree of Master’s in Physiotherapy in Orthopaedics. Master’s degree in any sub discipline of physiotherapy is no mean feat, thus adding further value to the degree of MPT in Orthopaedics. Some of the aspects of Orthopaedics training are:

Hand surgery

Shoulder and elbow surgery

Foot and ankle surgery

Spine surgery

Musculoskeletal surgery and so on.

In order to pursue MPT in Orthopaedics, interested students must have at least passed their graduation in any discipline of medical science from any respectable university or college.

The program of MPT in Orthopaedics is a two year full time post graduate level course. The duration of the program is further divided into four semesters, two semesters per year. The duration may also be extended according to circumstances.

After having gained the degree of MPT in Orthopaedics, students can start their career in the field of medical science as orthopaedic surgeons. Job opportunities in the field of orthopaedics are plenty in number, especially in the field of sports related injuries and diseases.
