Adichunchanagiri Institute of Technology shortly called as AIT came into existence in the year 1980 and the institute is functioning under the auspicious of Adhichunchanagiri Shikshana Trust, which is a registered trust. The institute was established with the objective of offering technical and professional education in the rural area of Chikmagalur popularly known as land of coffee.

Admission to Engineering courses:
Admission to the Bachelor of Engineering course (first year) is open for candidates with two year pre-university examination completion certificate in science stream from the Karnataka State Pre-University Board. Admission is offered also to the candidates with 10+2 from the CBSE with mathematics, chemistry and physics as optional subjects and English as a subject. Candidates must have secured at least 45% of aggregate marks in the qualifying examination. Candidates with three-year diploma certification in the appropriate branches of engineering are eligible for admission under lateral entry scheme.
Placement Cell at AIT:
Since the institute is located in a rural arena, the institute has made incredible efforts in turning the campus into a global showcase for the talented students of the institution. The institute invites more than 30 Multi-National Companies each year for selecting candidates from different branches of engineering of the college. In addition to offering placement facilities, the placement cell at AIT also train the students of the institution for facing global competition.
