Admission Procedure for Class VI and Class IX students in Sainik School Purulia
Only boys are offered admission to Class VI and Class IX in Sainik School Purulia. Interested candidates with adequate qualification should pass an entrance exam to seek admission. Entrance test for Class VI comprise of questions on intelligence test, language ability test and mathematical knowledge where as that for Class IX include questions from mathematics, English, science and social science.
Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process for Class VI in Sainik School Purulia
Only boys are offered admission in Sainik School Purulia. Around 60 seats are available for admission to class VI. Among this, 67% of the seats are reserved for residents of West Bengal and rest of 33% for students of other states. Age of the candidate must be between 10 and 11 years at the time of application.
Interested candidates with adequate qualification should pass an entrance exam to seek admission. These entrance exams are usually conducted during the first/second week of every January. Medium for the entrance test will be English / Bengali / Hindi. Questions are asked from the subject areas of any of the following.
- Intelligence Test
- Language Ability Test
- Mathematical Knowledge
There will 100 questions from each of these subjects. Candidates need to score at least 25% marks in each of the sections and aggregate of 40% marks to qualify. No minimum marks are there for SC/ST candidates.
Eligibility Criteria and Admission Process for Class IX in Sainik School Purulia
Admission for Class IX is also open for boys only. Only 5 seats are available for admission. Students applying to this class are in the age group of 13 to 14 years at the date of application. Reservation of seats (in the total intake capacity) is same as that for class VI.
An entrance test of 50 marks is conducted for the selection of eligible candidates. Total number of questions for the written test is 400. Questions can be expected from the following subjects.
- Mathematics
- English
- Science
- Social Science
Mathematics session comprise a total of 200 questions. 100 questions are asked from ‘English Language’ section. There will be 75 questions each from the topics of Science and Social Science.
Evaluation criteria for class IX is same as that of class IV. Candidates need to score at least 25% marks in each of the sections and aggregate of 40% marks to qualify. No minimum marks are required for SC/ST candidates to qualify.
Application forms for entrance exam can be collected directly from the school office by paying an amount of Rs. 500/-. Those who are collecting the application form through registered post should make a payment of Rs. 540/-. Notification for the entrance test is published in the web portal of Sainik School Purulia, by every December.
