Kerala is known for its education and literacy programs. Trivandrum, the capital city, is one of the major hubs of education in the state. It hosts some of the best schools and colleges. Schools are affiliated to the State Education Board, CBSE and ICSE.

Schools in North Zone

Christ Nagar School – The School, located in Kowdiar, is run by the priests of the CMI monastery. The school has classes for students belonging to the CBSE, ICSE and state syllabus. Arya Central School – The school is located in Pattom. It was founded by late Krishnanand Acharya and his wife. The school is known for its education and approach towards its students.

Cotton Hill School – This girls’ school, located in Vazhuthacaud, is run by the state government. It is known for its academic excellence. It is a venue for many competitive exams conducted by the centre and state.

Nirmala Bhavan English High School – This girls’ school is located in Kowdiar. It is run by the sisters of SABS. The school is equipped with smart class facilities.

St Mary’s School – This school is run by the Syro Malankara Chruch. It is situated in Pattom. The school has many clubs that help develop an interest in students towards various activities.

St Thomas’ Residential School – The school, run by Mar Thoma Church Education Society, is situated in Mukkolakkal. It is a coeducational boarding school. It is considered to be one of the best schools in the city. The quality of education at this school is well known. Every year, the school conducts an inter school cultural fest called The Sanrevo, which is a much awaited event.

Schools in South Zone

Loyola School – Loyola was established by the Society of Jesuits. This boys’ school is located in Sreekariyam. The school was initially started with the ICSE syllabus. Later on it adopted the state and CBSE syllabus also. The school has won many quiz competitions. The school conducts a talent show called the LA Fest. The school encourages its students to participate in basketball, football and cricket.

Schools in West Zone

Kendriya Vidyalaya – The Kendriya Vidyalaya is a central government school run by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. There are four KVs in Trivandrum They are located in Akkulam, Pallipuram, Pangode and Pattom.
