Admission Process for M.Des in IIT, Bombay
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT – Bombay) invites applications for Master of Design (M.Des) course in streams like Product design/Industrial design, Interactive design, Animation and Visual Communication. Graduate degree in engineering, architecture or interior design is the basic qualifications required to apply. It is compulsory for candidates to have a valid CEED score card. Selection process will include a separate written exam and personal interview organized by IIT, Bombay.
M.Des programs offered in IIT, Bombay
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT – Bombay) offers M.Des program in the following streams –
- Master of Design in Visual Communication
- Master of Design in Product design/Industrial design
- Master of Design in Interaction Design
- Master of Design in Animation
Eligibility Criteria for M.Des Admission in IIT, Bombay
Master of Design in Product design/Industrial design
Graduates in engineering, interior design or architecture from any of the recognized institute/University are eligible to apply. Apart from this, candidates holding professional diploma in design (NID/CEPT) can also apply.
Master of Design in Visual Communication / Animation / Interaction Design
Eligible candidate must have any of the following educational qualifications.
- Graduation in engineering, architecture or interior design
- Professional diploma in design (NID/CEPT)
- Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) having duration of 4 years after 12th
- G.D. Art (5 year course 10th) with a professional experience of 1 year
- Post graduate degree in streams like Arts, Science or Computer Applications
It is compulsory for candidates to obtain at least 55% marks in the qualifying exam to submit applications. Those who have scored 45% marks or higher will also be considered, provided they have 2 years experience and good portfolio.
Selection Procedure for M.Des course in IIT, Bombay
Candidates should necessarily attend CEED (Common Entrance Exam for Design) and attain a valid score in the same to apply. Based on CEED score, they are short listed for further selection process. Further selection process includes a written exam and personnel interview (conducted by IIT, Bombay in the month of June).
Application Procedure for M.Des course in IIT, Bombay
Candidates with required qualifications can apply for the course through the website of IIT, Bombay. Candidates can obtain application forms via post or they can download them from the official site of IIT, Bombay. Before sending the application forms, candidates need to deposit an admission fees of Rs 300/- (Rs. 150/- for SC/ST) in the form of Demand Draft (DD). The filled in application forms along with DD, need to be enclosed with a self addressed stamped envelope need to send to the specified address – “Registrar, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay” within the last date.
