Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute (SRFTRI) is an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India. Graduates can have admission to the Postgraduate Programme in Cinema in SRFTRI. The course offers specialization in subjects like Editing, Cinematography and Sound Recording. Selection of eligible candidates is done on the basis of written test, interactive orientation session and medical examination. Selected students can pursue the course by paying Rs. 17,500/- per semester as tuition fee.

Eligibility and Admission Process for PG Programme in Cinema in SRFTRI

Graduation from a recognized University is the basic qualification required. Those interested to pursue Sound Recording & Design as specialization should have completed graduation with Physics or Mathematics at HSC level.

Selection of suitable candidate is done on the basis of written exam, interactive orientation session and medical examination. There will be two papers for the written test. First paper comprises of questions on general knowledge and mental aptitude. General Knowledge questions are asked with special reference to India and there will be questions on Art, Culture, Society and People. This paper is common for all candidates irrespective of the subject area of specialization. Time allotted for the completion of this paper is 1 hour.

Candidate needs to complete second paper within 1 and half hours. Questions in this paper may vary with subject area of specialization.  Candidates qualifying the written exam will be selected for interactive orientation session and viva voce. Qualified candidates at this level will be examined for medical fitness. Those who can get through these successive levels of selection process can have admission to the course.

Application Process for PG Programme in Cinema in SRFTRI

Application forms can be collected from the web portal of SRFTRI itself. This must be carefully filled and submitted to the address of the Director of Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute. Filled up application form must be accompanied with a demand draft of Rs. 2000/- taken in favor of the institute. One recent size photograph, attested copies of mark sheets, caste certificate (if applicable), etc must also be sent along with the application form.

Selected candidates can join the course by paying Rs. 1000/- as admission fees. Also they need to pay a tuition fee of Rs. 17, 500/- per semester. Other fees like Library Fee and Internet Fee are also applicable.
