AIIHPH 2012
Established in Calcutta, by the end of 1932, The All India Institute of Hygiene and Public Health is a one of a kind Post-Graduate institute dedicated to research in health related science disciplines and teaches them to aspirants. Rockfeller Foundation helped establish the AAIHPH and the Director General of Health Services; New Delhi administers and controls the institute under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
Accredited as an International Training Centre in 1953 by WHO and UNICEF, the AIIHPH has also been affiliated to the West Bengal University of Health Sciences since 2004 (WBUHS).The Institute’s location is almost in the center of the city geographically. It provides greatly qualified and experienced faculty, air conditioned conference halls, class rooms and auditoriums. All the greenery in the picturesque environment of the campus makes it ideal for learning and studying without any stress.
The AIIHPH is now ready to take in new admissions into M.Sc in Applied Nutrition. The 2 year long course will start most probably by September.
Structure of AIIHPH – M.SC in applied nutrition exam
For candidates who have fulfilled the eligibility criteria and have submitted valid application forms as per the regulations in the Guidelines brochure, the candidates receive along with the form; the WBUHS will administer and conduct the entrance exam for admission into the M.Sc course.
The question paper will be in English and there will be 100 single best response type questions with multiple choices set on the subjects Physiology; Biochemistry; Nutrition; Community Health; Food Sciences; Maternal and Child Nutrition and are to be answered through OMR. The questions carry 4 marks each for the correct answer and for each wrong answers, 1 mark will be deducted. If a question goes unattended, there won’t be a 1 mark deduction. The exam is 80 minutes long.
For SC/ST candidates, the qualifying marks is a minimum of 140 and for others including OBC, it takes a minimum of 160 marks to qualify.
Syllabus for AIIHPH – M.SC in applied nutrition exam
The syllabus for the exam will be from that of the Bachelor’s degree that the candidates have qualified and will be concerned with subjects like Physiology; Biochemistry; Nutrition; Community Health; Food Sciences; Maternal and Child Nutrition.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must be qualified in any of the following Bachelor’s Degree
- Food and Nutrition
- Dietics
- Food Sciences
- Biochemistry
- Physiology
- Food Technology
- Clinical Nutrition and Dietics
The candidates should have a minimum aggregate 55 percent. Candidates who will be passing out before the year 2008 are not to apply. Candidates awaiting their results may apply, but they will undergo provisional selection.
How to Apply?
Candidates seeking admission are required to submit his/her applications online in the official website of the WBUHS – ‘www.thewbuhs.org’.
The request submitted by any other modes will be disqualified. While browsing this website, the candidates are recommended to go through the guidelines in the Information Booklet they can receive from the Institute or from the website itself by downloading it online.
On the homepage, select the Applications tab on the right hand side, then select WBPGANAT for which the candidates wish to submit the form. After selecting the above mentioned option, a page titled ‘Instructions’ will appear. Go through it thoroughly and then when you are ready click on ‘Click here for the Application Form’ at the bottom of the page.
Then fill the form carefully and precisely as per the instructions and be careful not to skip any points. Then click ‘Continue’. Candidates can check the entries and their details on the next page that appears. If the candidates need to make any changes, just click on the ‘Back’ option at the bottom. Then click ‘Continue’ to proceed. After carefully double checking each entry, the candidates should click the ‘Submit’ at the bottom to proceed to the next page. Mind that, the candidates will not be able to make any changes in the form after clicking the Submit button.
The candidates have to take print outs of the next 2 pages that appear both starting with the entry field for the ‘Serial No:’. These pages are to be filled up and submitted to the WBUHS. The University suggests the candidates to keep photocopies of these pages in case if any complexities arise and for referential purposes as well. If the candidates don’t get any Serial No: they are to resubmit the forms again. Application forms with missing entries and empty Serial No fields will be rejected. Once submitted, the University will not entertain requests for making changes in the applications.
Then the candidates are to click on ‘Continue to open the last page’ after printing the previous pages. Then take print out of the last page and submit these last two pages (page 3 and 4) to the office of the ‘Controller of Examinations, West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS), DD-36, Sector-I, Salt Lake, Kolkata-700064’.
Primary requirements that the candidates should possess while submitting the application forms include 2 recent passport sized photographs attested by either a gazetted officer or the Principal of the last college attended. Attaching pay-orders/bank drafts of Rs 1000/- in favour of ‘The West Bengal University of Health Sciences’ payable at Calcutta. Any attestations done should be by a gazetted officer with legible seal and designation
Finally, the application print outs are to be submitted in a self addressed envelope without a stamp and with the name of the course applied for by the candidate, along with photocopies of PAN cards.
How to fill the Form?
As mentioned above, the forms are to be filled with great care. The candidates are recommended to go through the instructions in the Instruction Booklet or the Prospectus of the Institute. The candidates are recommended to use black ball point pens to fill up the forms to be submitted. Crossing out mistakes in the form are not recommended and whiteners are suggested. The candidates are recommended to double check each and every field after they enter the appropriate entries.

Submission of print-copy of forms at W.B. University of Health Sciences (except Saturday, Sunday and Holidays): Between April and May, 2012

The exam centers will be announced by the WBUHS as soon as they finish processing the applications. The centre allotments will be final once announced. Institutes under the WBUHS are likely to be the exam centers.

Score Validity
The score of the Entrance examination is valid for the year of conducting the examination and applying for the next year the candidates should take the new entrance test.
