Alpha Arts and Science College was established in the academic year 1996-97 as a constituent unit sponsored by Alpha Educational Society and it is a co-educational private un-aided educational institution affiliated to Madras University and approved by Tamil Nadu Government. Initially, the college offered only degree courses and it was upgraded as a postgraduate institution from the academic year 2001-02.

College Library:

The campus of Alpha Arts and Science College includes a spacious library with appealing collection of books established with a view to instill the habit of reading among the students. With a view to widen the knowledge of the students, different international and national journals and magazines are subscribed by the library. Computer with internet facility is provided in the library to keep the students updated about the latest development in the economy.

Infrastructural Facilities in the college:

In addition to the library, the college also provides several facilities like start-of-the-art Viscom Studio with screening room, editing suite and shooting floor, a sprawling playground for games and sports and separate well-furnished hostels for girls and boys.

Placement cell:

A career guidance and placement cell is functioning under Alpha Arts & Science College and to become eligible for guidance from this cell, students must fulfill the following requirements:

• He/she should have excellent record of conduct, behavior and character

• He/she should be free from any major disciplinary action during the course period

• They should have good involvement in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities with good leadership qualities

• They should have good academic performance throughout the course and

• They should have minimum 80% of the attendance every year
