Few years ago, a Teacher Education Resource Group carried out an inspection in a Teachers training college. It was found to their astonishment, that a major part of faculty members including the Principal did not pose B.Ed degree. This was the similar condition found by the group when they visited two more states.  The University Grants Commission insist a candidate with M.Ed or M.A education to have another PG degree as to get placement in the post of Lecture in various colleges. But, at hand are examples of people having no Ph.D, M.Ed or even a B.Ed occupying a post of professor in NCERT ad even in University of Delhi. This points out clearly that in India, teacher’s education system has not gained an authentic place in higher education.  As to retrieve from this dreadful situation, teacher education call for a strong research base and proper remedies as to recover from different frails in the teachers education system.
