Physiotherapy is a medical science area for giving treatment to the patients who are threatened by injury, disease etc. Bachelor of Physiotherapy is an Under Graduate Degree awarded for a program in Physiotherapy. B.P.T is an abridged form of Bachelor of Physiotherapy. The program lasts for 4½ years. There is an internship in the B.P.T program with duration of 6 months. Physical Therapy Programs provide center skills such as manual therapy and therapeutic practice to the potential candidates. Many recognized institutes in India are offering the Bachelor of Physiotherapy program.

  • A Physiotherapist can go for documentation in a sub-specialty of Physiotherapy. Some of the specialty areas are like sports therapy, pediatric, electrophysiological physical therapy etc.

Eligibility Criteria for Bachelor of Physiotherapy

For pursuing the B.P.T program, the candidates need to clear the 12th standard. They should have obtained at least 50% of marks in Biology, Physics and Chemistry including practical. Aspirants must have passed each subject separately. A Common Entrance Test (CET) is carried out for selecting the aspirants. The CET score is considered for the admission process to the course. The applicants must have reached at least a minimum 17 years of age for applying the B.P.T program.

Admission Procedure for Bachelor of Physiotherapy

The admission for B.P.T program depends on the merit and also on the performance of the applicant in the entrance test. The application forms for the B.P.T entrance test is issued through online websites or by post. The applicants can download the form from the website of the college or university. The forms are also available in the office of the institutes. The application forms must reach the director of admission on or before of the last date.

How to fill in B.P.T Entrance Application form

While filling the application form, it is advisable to use the aspirant’s own handwriting. The form must be filled in block letters. The candidates must fill the form completely. Otherwise, there is a chance for the application form to be rejected. It is better to attach recent photographs in the application form. Once the forms reached on time, qualified applicants are sorted and they will receive a hall tickets for appearing the exam. The institute/ university are not responsible for any delay in postal service. If the applicants have any queries about the test one can contact the director of admission.

B.P.T Entrance Exam Pattern

The entrance test duration is 31/2 hours. The entrance exam covers multiple-type objective questions. There will be a maximum of 200 questions. The questions are taken from 5 subjects. They include Physics, Zoology. Some other subjects are like, Chemistry and Botany. English is also another subject. There will be equal number of questions from all these subjects. There is no negative mark for the incorrect answer. The students need to choose suitable answer from the given alternatives. The applicants must practice last year question papers for performing properly in the exam. Students are advised to work on test topics according to the significance of the subject and weight-age in test.

B.P.T Course Evaluation

Bachelor of Physiotherapy program covers orals, theory and practical sessions. There are objective examinations included in the course. There are four years of learning and six months mandatory resident rotary internship. Some institutes are offering subsidiary subjects along with the mandatory subjects. Introduction sessions carried out to study the practical treatments. University examinations are being conducted at the end of every year. Exams include both theory and practicals. Those who have less than 75% of attendance are not qualified for writing the examination. There is a day-to-day internal assessment, case discussions, problem-solving exercise etc. In addition, the program covers small research projects and Multiple-type question tests.

What to do after B.P.T?

After the B.P.T program, aspirants can select the higher educations courses. Some of the Post graduation programs are Master of Physiotherapy in Orthopedics, Master of Physiotherapy in Hand Conditions, Master of Physiotherapy in Neurology and Master of Sports Physiotherapy. There are some diploma programs also offered by many institutes such as PG Diploma in Geriatric Physiotherapy, PG Diploma in Physiotherapy and PG Diploma in Sports physiotherapy. There are many job opportunities are also available after the B.P.T program. Once the aspirants finish the Program they will be eligible to work in hospitals, private clinics, fitness centers etc.

Remuneration after B.P.T

The B.P.T graduates can find job in rehabilitation centers that are administered by the Central and State governments or by private bodies. There is high demand for B.P.T graduates in foreign nations like US, Canada, Australia etc. Career opportunity is also available in the areas such as teaching; consultancy etc. A fresher can get Rs. 3,000 - Rs. 5,000 per month in the government hospitals.

The candidates will get more salary in the private hospitals. A physiotherapist can earn 7,500 - Rs. 10,000 per month in a private hospital. Professionals of this area can get almost Rs. 20,000 - Rs. 40,000 monthly. Physiotherapists who have few years of experience can begin their own clinics. They will get around Rs. 250 – Rs. 400 for every sitting.
