Bachelor of Pharmacy shortly called as B. Pharm is a UG course in the field of pharmacy. Bachelor of Pharmacy is the fundamental pre-requisite for registration for practicing as a pharmacist in many nation. This is particularly true in India as well and the pharmacy courses in India are regulated by the Pharmacy Council of India, under which most of the Indian states have their own pharmacy councils. When it comes to Pharmacy Council in the state of Tamil Nadu, Tamil Nadu State Pharmacy Council was constituted by the Government of Tamil Nadu according to the provisions of the Pharmacy Act 1948.
About Tamil Nadu Pharmacy Council:
Pharmacy education in the state of Tamil Nadu is governed by the Tamil Nadu Pharmacy Council, which is working under the guidance of Pharmacy Council of India. The council has six members, out of which five members are nominated by the Tamil Nadu Government and one member is elected by the Tamil Nadu Medical Council. The council also has three ex-officio members.
Eligibility for admission to B. Pharm course in Tamil Nadu:
For seeking admission to the Bachelor of Pharmacy course in the state of Tamil Nadu, candidates must have completed their higher secondary in science stream either from an institution approved by the Higher Education Board of Tamil Nadu or the Central Board of Secondary Education or from an institution approved by any other board of higher education in the nation. Admission is offered to the students based on the merit secured by candidates in the qualifying examination.
