B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent College, Chennai
B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent College was set up in the year 1984. It was established as a Muslim Minority College. The college is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education and was affiliated to the University of Madras. As of now it has its affiliation to Anna University. The All India Islamic Foundation sponsors the college. The foundation has an aim to provide educational opportunities to the poor and needy.
Courses Offered:The college offers both graduate and postgraduate courses. The undergraduate degrees include B.E. and B. Tech. B.E. is offered in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Instrumentation and Control Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering. B. Tech is offered in Polymer Technology and Information Technology.
The post graduate programs include M.E. in Computer Science and Engineering, Structural Engineering, Communication Engineering, Computer Aided Design, Power System Engineering, and Computer Integrated Manufacturing. The degree of M.C.A is given in Computer Applications and Business Administrations.
Infrastructure: the college has a lush green sprawling campus spread across 60 acres. The laboratories are all efficiently equipped with modern equipments. The library contains numerous books to increase the knowledge of the students. There are many playgrounds and separate hostels for boys and girls within the vast campus.
Admission and Eligibility criteria: the eligibility for B.E. and B. Tech is a pass in 10+2 with minimum marks as prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu. For lateral entry the eligibility is a diploma in the relevant stream or a pass in B.Sc. with 60% marks in aggregate. For M.E. the eligibility is a pass in B.E. or B. Tech in relevant trust.
Placement: the college has a dedicated placement cell which strives for the placement of the students in reputed companies. Both large scale and small scale industries visit the campus every year to recruit the students.
