B.Tech in Polymer Engineering, Polymer Engineering B.Tech
Polymer engineering is the field of engineering those analyses modifies and design polymer materials. It covers topics related to manufacture of polymers, their application and specific use. It involves detail study of structure and characterization of polymers, their properties, description and their processing.
Course Outlook:
The polymer engineering course is of four year duration. These four years are divided into eight parts or semesters of six month duration each. Each semester is allocated for different subjects of study. The first year is common to all engineering disciplines. The second year involves study of some specific subjects related to the field of polymer engineering. Third year is concentrated with more specialized study of the subject. In the fourth year, the candidate takes up project work and industrial training.
Eligibility:
The candidate must have passed the higher secondary school certificate exam from a recognized board in order to get admitted to bachelors of engineering course in polymer technology. The candidate should have physics, chemistry, and mathematics in the higher secondary schooling. The admission is generally based on the basis of the rank obtained in the entrance tests. There are all India as well as state or university level entrance tests for taking admission to the B.E courses.
Job Prospects:
Polymers have a wide application in many industries like aerospace industry, automobile industry etc. It also has application in specific products like fishing rods, bicycle, sports equipments etc.
