Chakdaha College came into existence in the year 1972 on the 21st of November in the area of rural Bengal and the college has grown over these years of its existence into a prestigious and leading academy for under graduation education among a group of 40 general degree colleges that are affiliated to the University of Kalyani.

By its sustained record and academic discipline of toppers in almost all the courses offered, the institute attracts and caters to the best budding talents of not only the area of Chakdaha, but also the vast hinterland that cuts across Nadia and nearby districts.

General rules for admission:

Admission of students to Bachelor of Arts/Science/commerce general and honors courses are done based on the higher secondary or equivalent examination marks as recognized by the University of Kalyani. The college issues admission notification immediately after the publication of higher secondary results in the state of West Bengal. Admission of students is done strictly based on the merit secured in the qualifying examination and merit list of admitted students will be prepared by the institution based on the norms of the affiliating university. Marks secured in the best five subjects and the marks secured in the subject in which he/she is intending to take up admission to the honors course or related subject will be taken into consideration for preparation of merit list of selected candidates.

Stipend and scholarships to students:

Some of the scholarship facilities offered to the students of Chakdaha College are:

• Stipend for meritorious and poor students from the Teachers’ Council

• Financial help for poor students from students’ union

• Financial assistance through Students’ Aid Fund for which students are selected based on merit , class attendance and financial status of students

• Government of India scholarships to students belonging to OBC/ST/SC category

• 20 SC/ST students of the college are getting a monthly stipend of Rs.500 based on the attendance to classes and merit every year. This stipend is being offered by the college from the year 2007. To become eligible for this stipend, students will have to submit their caste and family income certificate
