Damber Singh College, East Sikkim
Damber Singh College was founded in 1994 and initially the college got affiliated to North Bengal University. Later, after the formation of Sikkim University, the college came under the jurisdiction of this university.
Academic Programmes:
Damber Singh College offers three-year bachelor degree course in the faculty of arts both under general and honors category. It also offers one-year degree course in library and information science and three-year Bachelor of Science in Information Technology is soon to be begun with the support of Bangalore University. In addition to these courses, recognized study centers of North Bengal University and Pondicherry University are also functioning in the college through which courses like MBA, M.A and M. Sc mathematics are offered.
Eligibility for admission:
For getting admission to the Bachelor of Arts courses offered by the college, candidates must have completed their 10+2 with the marks stipulated by Sikkim University from time to time. For Bachelor of library and information science course, candidates must be graduates in any discipline with marks specified by the university from time to time. For B. Sc information technology, candidates must have completed their 10+2 or 10+3 years of diploma in any discipline and the mark secured by the students in the entrance examination is used as criteria for selection for this course.
Faculties in the college:
Damber Singh College has adequate number of well-qualified faculty members with several years of experience and they are appointed in accordance with the norms set by the University Grants Commission. In addition to full-time faculties working for the college, part-time professors and visiting professors also deliver lectures.
Governing body of the college:
The college forms its governing body in conformity with the guidelines provided by the Sikkim University from time to time.
