I am a Diploma student in Mechanical Engineering. Now I am in my 3rd year. I aspired to do a Bachelor's Degree in Marine Engineering further. So is it possible? If it is, then what is the procedure?

No, diploma in Mechanical Engineering candidates are not eligible for B.Tech/B.E in Marine Engineering.

Those candidates who have completed diploma in Marine Engineering from a recognized university are eligible for B.Tech in Marine Engineering.

Your age should be above 17 years.

Yes, you can get admission in B.Tech marine engineering through lateral entry exams. Normally, the exam is conducted in state level for admission in second year of the B.Tech course.

You can apply for lateral entry exam of your state. Admission will be on the basis of performance in entrance exam and seats will be allotted through counselling.

Yes, you can study B.Tech Marine Engineering after completing Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. The eligibility to study the course through lateral entry is a pass in 3 year diploma in mechanical engineering with 55% marks. The duration of the course is 3 years. You will be admitted directly to the 2nd year of the B.Tech course. Your age should be below 25 years at the time of admission.
