It is a good decision if you have joined a job based on your diploma qualification. If you are not doing any job then you should opt for B.Tech through lateral entry procedure.

AMIE has been a very good option for professionals who want to get promotion by getting a degree in given stream. It is widely accepted by most of the companies and is equivalent to a engineering degree.

AMIE stands for "Associate Member of Institution of Engineers".

It is a degree level examination in engineering, recognized by all State Governments, Central Govt., AICTE, UPSC etc as equivalent to B.E/B.Tech.

Yes, definitely it is good if you go for the AMIE after completion of your diploma.

For your kind information i want to tell you that AMIE examinations are conducted in every June and December. The examination is written-type and is of 3 hour duration. The examinations are conducted in all major cities in India.

Eligibility :

You must have any one of the following qualifications :

** A recognized 3-year Polytechnic Diploma or its equivalent in any branch of engineering(No marks restriction)
OR
10+2 with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics with minimum 45% marks.

Branches Available for graduation after diploma :

** Chemical Engineering
** Materials and Metallurgical Engineering
** Mining Engineering
** Production Engineering
** Textile Engineering
** Civil Engineering
** Computer Science and Engineering
** Electrical Engineering
** Electronics & Communication Engineering
** Mechanical Engineering

My suggestion to you is that you should choose any of the stream as per your interest.
Do you have any question? or have anything to say?
