You have good percentage throughout your studies, so you are eligible for all the companies to attend the interview.

-> The only way to approach core companies for Freshers is to make your college placement officials to invite the core companies to come for campus placements in your college.

-> To be placed in core company all you have to do is prepare yourself well till the companies come in for your campus by 7th or 8th semester..

-> If you can do some extra course like embedded systems which will be helpful for your stream then it will be really good because you it gains you some extra points when you go for the core companies interview

-> Just prepare well for your coming semester exams and as well as prepare for placements like aptitudes, communication skills etc. then you will for sure placed in one of the core companies when you pass out from college

As your CGPA is good you would be considered in off campus interviews. Just be confident.

i want to add a question here!...now BHEL,GAIL,NTPC,ETC will be taking GATE scorecard also...so i will be giving GATE 2012 now...so after result do i have to go straight to the company or fill the company application also...what if theese applications are being issued before the gate exam..do i fill it..or do i fill them after my gate scorecard as it will be valid for one year..i am confused because i was thinking of giving CAT,XAT,ETC but now i really think preparing GATE and going for govt jobs is better as i want a relax and happy life!

You can appear for almost all the companies coming for placement to your college as you have a very good CGPA..

In order to get a good salary..you should have a really good knowledge of your subjects while giving the interviews and should have confidence in yourself..

Apart from the on-campus placements..you can appear for the PSU (Public Sector Unit) exams which offer really high salary if you clear their recruitment exam..
