Dear friend,

MPSC stands for Maharashtra Public Service Commission and it is similar to Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). This exam is conducted for the selection of candidates for the various posts like Sub inspector of police, state civil services, agricultural services, assistant and sales tax inspector, assistant inspector of motor vehicles, clerical and typists, forest services and stenographers in the state of Maharashtra.

Eligibility Criteria:-

1)- You should belong to Maharashtra state.

2)- You should have completed your Graduation in any stream.

3)- Your age should be in between 19 to 33 years for general category candidates.

4)- There is 5 years age relaxation for OBC candidates, 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 10 years for PH candidates.

Selection Procedure:-

The selection procedure in MPSC includes three stages-

1)- Preliminary Examination
2)- Main Examination
3)- Interview/Personality Test

MPSC Preliminary Exam Pattern:-

There are total papers conducted in this exam.
Both papers are of 20 marks.
The time duration for each paper is 2 hours.

Paper I - (200 marks)

(1) Current events of state, national and international importance
(2) History of India (with special reference to Maharashtra) and Indian National Movement
(3) Maharashtra, India and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic Geography of Maharashtra, India and the World
(4) Maharashtra and India - Polity and Governance - Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj,Urban
Governance, Public Policy, Rights issues, etc
(5) Economic and Social Development - Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector initiatives, etc
(6) General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change-that do not require subject specialisation
(7) General Science


Paper II - (200 marks)

(1) Comprehension
(2) Interpersonal skills including communication skills
(3) Logical reasoning and analytical ability
(4) Decision - making and problem - solving
(5) General mental ability
(6) Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation(Charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc.- Class X level)
(7) Marathi and English Language Comprehension skills (Class X/XII level)
