I have completed my BA,LL.b and now i am interested to apply for chartered accountant. Am I eligible to qualify or appear for ca exam. please help me in terms of pursuing my studies.

Yes, any stream candidate is eligible to apply in Chartered Accountancy Course.

Chartered Accountancy is professional who manages company's Finance and keep the tax obligation of company as less as possible.

Graduate from recognized university can even join the course from executive level (IPCC) which is second level of the course provided they have scored 55% in your Graduation (BA LLB).

QUALIFICATION FOR APPEARING IN CPT

10+2 Passed from recognized board.


There are 3 level in CA which candidate need to clear for being Chartered Accountant.

Common Proficiency Test(CPT)
IPCC ( 2 GROUPS)
Final examination

Although Chartered Accountancy student takes 4 to 5 minimum years to complete the course but graduate candidate could complete the course earlier (with in 3 years ).

ICAI conduct the examination twice in a year in JUNE and in DECEMBER.

Hi, I completed my MBA (Finance) in year 2005 now I want to do CA. Am I eligible to apply for CA and what is the procedure.

Of course you can apply for the Chartered Accountancy course. The BA LLB graduates are also welcomed to apply for the Chartered Accountancy course. There is no such rule that graduates are not eligible to apply for Chartered Accountancy.

You can graduate in any stream and yet apply for the Chartered Accountancy. Depending on how much marks you have scored in BA LLB you may get direct admission for IPCC or you may have to appear for the Common Proficiency Test.

Generally the Common Proficiency Test is necessary to apply for the Chartered Accountancy. Upon clearing this course the candidate is given admission for the IPCC.

However there is different rules for graduates. Under the new rules of ICAI, they can claim exemption from Common Proficiency Test but must meet certain criteria.


Exemption Criteria

1. 55 percent marks in Commerce graduation course.

2. 60 percent marks in non commerce graduation course.

Since you are have completed non commerce graduation, if secured 60 percent marks then you will be able to directly take admission for the IPCC. Otherwise it would be necessary to clear the Common Proficiency Test.

1. Fundamentals of Accountancy

2. Economics

3. Mercantile Law

4. Quantitative Aptitude


These sections are divided into 2 groups. In order to clear the test you will have to secure 30 percent marks in each group.

than those falling under Commerce
stream having secured in aggregate
a minimum of 60% of the total
marks or its equivalent grade in the
examination conducted by any
recognized University (including
Open University) .
