I did my B.Ed (2 years) from IGNOU in 2009. Then I completed M.Sc, M.Ed, M.Phil & Ph.D (Education) and qualified NET (Education). Now some are saying that B.Ed from IGNOU is not accepted for Assistant Professor in Education post in state or central university. Is it true?

NET refers to National Eligibility Test and it is held twice every year by NTA (National Testing Agency) for the recruitment of Assistant Professor and JRFs across various recognised university.

Further, the minimum education required to appearing in these examinations is a master's degree ( in your interested paper for teaching) with at least 55% marks from a recognised university. Marks relaxation upto 5% is allowed for candidates belonging to reserved category.

So, having completed your Master's degree course, you are definitely eligible to apply for NET if you have managed to qualify your Master's degree course with the minimum specified in the same degree as per your category.

Further, I would like to let you know that there is no requirement of B.Ed. degree course to be eligible for appearing in the NET.
