Hello, I am thinking of taking B.A English Hons. degree course. So, would it be helpful to crack the Civil Service examination? Which Graduate discipline course would be best helpful for cracking Civil exams?

Civil Service Examination is conducted by UPSC. The examination will br conducted in three stages.

There is no limitation on discipline of bachelor degree to appear in the examination.

Consistency and dedication in preparation is key to success in examination.

Now UPSC has changed total syllabus. Which subject do you love to read. If English then take English, if Hindi then take Hindi . Subject does not matter.
You will have to read all basic subjects including International politics, science and technology, Indian space science and development etc for UPSC civil service exam.

Note that you can pursue any graduation course to be eligible for Civil Services Exam.

It can be BA/B.Sc./B.A./BCA/B.Com/BBA/B.Tech, or any other graduation course. But you must have secured at least 55% marks in it.

In this case, you must choose that graduation course in which you have keen interest so that it would be easier for you to gain percentage in it.

Other way is to choose light-weight graduation course like BA which doesn't involve so much of hard work to pass the graduation course. In this graduation course, you will get time for preparation of your Civil Services Exam. So, BA would be helpful for preparation of your Civil Services Exam.
