The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts Civil Service Aptitude Test (CSAT) which consists of two papers i.e., Prelims and Mains. The candidate should qualify in the both the examinations to get recruitment in respective positions to which they applied.

* As the paper 1(General Studies) of Preliminary exam is General studies, it's better to know the current affairs in and around the world.

* Candidate should have detailed idea of History, Geography of India. He/ she should also have knowledge on Indian National movement.

* The questions from this paper mainly concentrate on Economic geography of India and world, Indian constitution, Right issues, Economic and social development, poverty, social sector initiatives etc.

* It is also better to focus on Environmental ecology, Bio-diversity, climate change and General science.

* For paper II(General aptitude) one should concentrate more on English Language. For he/she should refer the previous class grammar books to recollect the information on basics.

* General Aptitude also includes Comprehension, Interpersonal skills, Logical reasoning and analytical ability, Data interpretation etc.

* Read the Newspapers and Magazines in order to cover the language barrier and also to get know about the happenings in and around the world.

* Solve puzzles which helps in logical reasoning.

* Practice sample/ previous papers to get idea about the pattern of the subject.

* The exam is more about logic and memory about the events. so,take care of your diet to perform well in the exam.
