The admission to master's degree in technology either in National Institute of Technology or Indian Institute of Technology is given on the basis of GATE scorecard and rank. GATE is the Graduate Aptitude test in Engineering conducted every year by IIT or IISC.

GATE 2016 is conducted by the IISC. It is a computer based test and consist of 65 questions of 100 marks.
