The admission to master's degree in technology either in National Institute of Technology or Indian Institute of Technology is given on the basis of GATE scorecard and rank. GATE is the Graduate Aptitude test in Engineering conducted every year by IIT or IISC.
GATE 2016 is conducted by the IISC. It is a computer based test and consist of 65 questions of 100 marks. This exam is conducted in more than twenty disciplines like Civil, engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering etc. You can appear for the exam from your core stream of engineering. The books to be read for the GATE exam to get admission in NIT or IIT in M.Tech are stream specific.
