GATE stands for the Graduate Aptitude test in Engineering .It is conducted by the IIT and IISC for selection of candidates who are interested in doing master's degree in technology from the Indian Institute of technology.

All candidates who have done bachelor's degree in engineering or technology from a recognized university or master's degree in science or mathematics are applicable for the exam.

There is no upper age limit as well as no bar on number of attempts for the exam.

From the 2014 ,the GATE examination will be online .
