Primarily be thorough with NCERT textbooks, its each and every concepts and then look for other books.....
H C VERMA is good for Physics and Mathematics .......and i suggest NCERT the best for Chemistry.....

FOR CHEMISTRY:-
1) organic chemistry:- O.P. AGARWAL
2) physical and inorganic chemistry:- O.P. TANDON
3) for practice papers:- ARIHANT

FOR PHYSICS:-
series of H.C.VERMA(1 and 2)
NOOTAN is also a good choice (if you start from the basics)

FOR MATHS:-
M.L. AGARWAL is the best book for fresher's preparing for IIT
TMH(tata mcraw hill) is also a good book (if your concepts are clear)

Though there are many books available in the market ,Being an IITian i insist u to refer the following:
Physics:
1. Concepts of physics by H.C Verma vol 1& vol 2
2. Objective physics by Arihant
3. Problems in physics by I.E. Irodov
Chemistry:
1.Organic& Inorganic:
1.According to me NCERT text book is the best book to be referred
2.Morrison boyd (for organic)
3.Concise inorganic chemistry by J.D. Lee(for inorganic)

2.Physical:
It needs lot of practice
so any book that contains lot of problems to solve is useful
Mathematics:
1.IIT maths by M.L. Khanna (for algebra)
2.Thomas and finney (for geometry)

and try to solve previous year model papers as many as possible . They are available at

prepare well for the exam.

u hav to undrstand that the IIT JEE exam is based on the CBSC syllabus and the same books can be used as a reference medium for both sylllabus and the course

u can also refer the NCERT books for the study.

various publishers also offer the preparatory books for the IIT JEE exam. they include many lik sultan chand and sons, khanna publishers etc..

u may also use the stay ahead series of books available, whcih is the best1

Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination (IIT JEE) is conducted every year once to take qualified students for graduation course.

Eligibility criteria for IIT-JEE exam:
>>candidate must have passed their 10+2 examinations from a recognized board.
>>candidates who will be giving their final examinations of 10+2 in 2012 are also eligible to apply
