Hi,
I work as JTO in BSNL and i am interested to appear for UPSC-Engineering services examination. Right now i am close to the upper age limit of the examination. Is there any way to get age relaxation from my experience in BSNL.

Not it is not possible to get any type of relaxation except you are of reserved categories

that too only these three categories they are ..

->SC
->ST
->OBC

for SC relaxation is 5 years from the upper age limit.

For ST also the relaxation is 5 years after its upper age limit.

For OBC the relaxation is 3 years after its upper age limit.

UPSC is strict in its rules and regulations so there will be no such things will be entertained for this exam.

It is not possible in upsc exams because upsc exam is strict in rules and regulation...

=>for sc and st,five years age limit for relaxation
=>for obc,three years age relaxation

Dear Ravi, i m senior section engineer in railways,I think i could answer ur question,only a person of general category who is working in army or in any central govt's armed forces could get age relaxation in upsc exams.....take care

Age relaxation is only for obc and sc/st category.

There is no age relaxation for general category.

For obc and sc/st age relaxation is 3 and 5 year respectively.

So, max. age for obc is 33 and for sc/st 35.

Government employees and Undertaking employees are eligible for 5 year Age relaxation. DOT employees and undertaking employees also eligible for age relaxation in IES exam. So I think BSNL employees may be eligible for that.

HAL employ are eligible for age relaxation in UPSC engg service exam.

sorry there no such provision. age relaxation only applicable to sc st and obc candidate only in upsc examination.

i m working as JE(CIVIL) under MOD my qualification is BE (CIV) now i want to appear in engginering service exam but my age is over is there any relaxation on age for central govt employee

I am not sure but after observing the advertisement for IES'2012 in UPSC website it can be concluded that any candidate who is working under any of the column 1 department of Central Govt. like Rail,CPWD,DOT etc. then he/she will be eligible. So being JTO in BSNL i think i can avail the opportunity of seeking the age relaxation since it is a Govt. enterprise under DOT. But i am not so sure.....need all of your feedback......Sam

I also think that BSNL JTO should get the age relaxation since in PSE under DOT in accordance with the advertisement in UPSC website in respect of IES'2012 age relaxation column where the special cases are clarified but is not quite clear too much. I have tried several times to contact with UPSC cell people with the given phone nos. in the add. but no body responded to the call...so that i can be confirmed.

dear different exams have different rules. In case of medical exams there is no problem of age.
For afmc age limit is 21 yrs.
For aipmt age limit is 25 yrs.
For aiims is 30 yrs.

So concentrate on your studies and clear the xams.

BSNL is a public sector unit under the control of DOT, It is Government of India enterprise and 100% owned by Govt.Of India. so weather JTO BSNL is eligible for age relaxation UPSC engineering services?

ALL BSNL EMPLOYEE ARE ELIGIBLE FOR AGE RELAXATION IN UPSC ENGG SERVICE EXAM BECOZ THEY ARE UNDER CONTROL OF MINISTRY OF TELECOMMUNICATION AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MENTIONED IN COLUMN 1 OF ESE NOTIFICATION.
