You are definitely eligible for the Masters of Computer Applications course. A common mistake that people make these days is by thinking that only science students are eligible for the MCA course. It is absolutely wrong, there is no such criteria for the MCA course.

You are only two requirements to pursue MCA in India. Firstly you should have computer science, Maths or statistics as one of the subjects in 10+2. Secondly you should have a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university in India. Following which you should appear in one of the several MCA entrance exams. Your performance in the entrance exams would decide which college may grant you admission.

Entrance examination for MCA

JNU MCA

ICET

MAH-CET-MCA

AIMCAT

VIT Entrance exam

TANCET MCA

Entrance Exam Pattern

However there is no guarentee that entrance exam patter would remain the case for all entrance exams. Usually the MCA entrance exam syllabus include:

Qunatitative Aptitude

English Language

General awareness

reasoning

Computer awareness

ELIGIBILITY

Like I mentioned earlier you need to hav computer science, maths or stastics as one of the subjects in 10+2.

You are also required to secure a minimum percentage in bachelor's degree to get admission in MCA. This requirement varies from college to college. However it is somewhere between 50 to 60 percent. There is relaxation of up to 5 percent for SC/ST/OBC students in government colleges.

Top MCA Colleges in India

Madurai kamaraj University

Vellore engineering College

IIT Roorkee

Indraprsatha University

BITS , Pilani

JNTU College of Engineering

MN National Institute of Technology (NIT)

National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirapalli

Master of Computer Applications or MCA is a three year course with six semester.

If you have an interest in computer application then you can easily pursue this course.

Along with science students even BBA, B.Com students can also pursue this course. By pursuing this course you can easily look for jobs in the information technology industry.

There is no age criteria for pursuing this course. A healthy 60 percent at graduation level is more than enough.

This course basically stresses on the following subjects:
algorithm design and optimization
network and database management
computational theory
programming
electronics
mathematics
statistics
accounting
finance etc.

For pursuing this course you can either give the entrance examination or you can look for universities which offers direct admission. But i would personally suggest you to give the top entrance exams as that will give you the chance to get into the top colleges in India.

Top prepare for this entrance exams you should stress on the following sections: mathematics, general awareness, analytical reasoning and computer awareness.

To apply for MCA course, candidates should take up mathematics as a subject. Being a commerce student, you can opt for MCA only if you have taken mathematics as an optional subject in commerce course. Also you need to score 50% marks. You should write entrance examination to get selection for MCA course. You can join for MCA only if you qualify this entrance exam.
