After completion of BE/B-Tech in Mechanical engineering you are eligible for Indian Air force exam through CDS and AFCAT exam .

CDS stands for Combined Defence Service .

Educational Qualification :-

Indian Military Academy / Officers Training Academy : Degree of a Recognized University (OR) equivalent

Indian Navy Academy : Degree in Engineering for CDSE & Degree in Engineering (OR) B.Sc (Physics / Mathematics)

Indian Air Force Academy : Degree of recognized university (physics & mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering

Age Criteria:-

Indian Military Academy: - 19-24 Years
Air Force Academy: - 19-23 Years
Naval Academy: - 19-22 Years
Officer's Training Academy: - 19-25 Years

AFCAT Exam is Conducted to select candidates for any one of the 3 Branches in between:

Technical
Flying
Ground Duty

For Technical Branch you should be a B.tech Graduate in Electronics & Mechanical Branch obtaining 60% Marks from a recognized University.
Age should be in between 18-28 Years,

For Flying Branch you should be a Graduate with Physics & Maths as Compulsory Subjects securing 60% Marks from a recognized University.
Age should be in between 19-23 Years

For Ground Duty Branches you should be a Graduate with any stream from a recognized University.
Age limit is 20-23 years(Postgraduate) & 20-25 Years (Graduates)
