Re: Can I do MBBS after BSc Nursing? What is the fee structure?
The post MBBS course is called MD. However you can not apply for it unless you have completed MBBS.
The B.Sc Nursing degree is not considered equal to the MBBS which would allow you to apply for the MD course. You must have MBBS degree for that. Therefore you will have to first apply for the MBBS. In my opinion, its clearly not a good idea to apply for MBBS. You are a nurse its better to do Master degree in Nursing. If you choose to apply for MBBS, then the Nursing degree will go waste. What is the point wasting hard work of last 4 years? You obviously can not work both as doctor and nurse therefore will have to sacrifice one degree. Now the choice is yours if you still want to apply for MBBS. If you do please keep the following points in mind. 1. The MBBS is 6 years long course and since you have already spent 4 year in Nursing, it may not be a good idea. On the other hand M.Sc Nursing is just 2 years course. 2. There is no relaxation for Nursing graudates when applying for MBBS. You will have to clear the NEET exam. 3. Having completed Nursing degree does not make the MBBS course easy. 4. There is no lateral entry in MBBS. You will have to study the full course. Lateral degree in MBBS are not legal in India. Make the decision keeping the above points in mind. If still interested then appear for the NEET entrance exam. You should have 50 percent marks in 12th with Biology, Physics and Chemistry to appear for it. Alternatively you can do M.Sc in Nursing and then apply for senior nurse job in government or private hospital. You can also apply for job in Army as well the Public Sector Undertaking. Some PSUs hire nurses and even offer promotions with time. |
