No, 10th standard candidates are not eligible for Merchant Navy exam after completion of 12th standard you are eligible for Merchant Navy exam.

Eligibility criteria for Merchant Navy exam-

Those candidates who have passed your 12th or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from central/state board or recognized school are eligible for Merchant navy exam.

Your age should be below 20 years.

Procedure to be followed :-
a) Completion of 12th with PCM percentage 65 % and it must be science stream ...
b) Completion of any graduation degree from marine engineering or any other course regarding to marine knowledge..
c) Then you have to work for experience ..
After that based on your knowledge and performance you will secure a job easily ..

- Academic Qualification: For joining Merchant Navy as the minimum qualification which is required is passing of 10+2 with Chemistry, Physics, Maths as elective subjects from recognized board.

- Age Limit: Admission is open to both unmarried male and female candidates; age should not be more than 20 years. those belonging to the SC/ST have this rule relaxed by about 5 years.

- Candidate should be physically fit and mentally strong.

You can not join Merchant Navy after 10th standard. Minimum qualification is 12th standard form a recognized university.
