to join navy for GP rating course you completed 10th class but this is the minimum qualification required in addition to the you must have sound health perfect eye sight and age above 18 years

For Navy, 10th percentage does not matters but to get selected in Navy wing of NDA, you must fulfill the following eligibility criteria :
1. To apply for Indian Navy, candidates must have cleared 10+2 from a recognised institution.
2. They must be bachelors.
3. They should have taken science including mathematics in 12th.
4. Their age must be in between 161/2 to 19 years subsequent to the year of exam.
5. Candidates of other nationality are not allowed to apply.

Eligibilty for merchant navy is:
Educational qualification: The minimum eligibility for courses in Nautical science and Marine engineering is 10+2 or an equivalent examination with physics, chemistry and mathematics. You should also pass a medical fitness test for sea service under standard norms and with eyesight 6/6 with no color blindness.If you want to enter the navigational and engineering fields of Merchant Navy you need to complete a Bachelors degree in Nautical Science or Marine engineering, before they can gain admission to the field.
