Yes, NEET is conducted for the selection of MBBS and BDS programs. For admission to all other courses, you need to qualify entrance exams. For engineering, you should apply for entrance test like AIEEE or IIT JEE (mains and advanced). One can also apply for state level entrance exams for selection. Marks obtained in these entrance exams determine the selection of candidate to higher education programs.

NEET stands for National Eligibility Entrance Test. CBSE or Central Board of Secondary Education has announced that from now onwards those students who wants to pursue an undergraduate degree in BDS/MBBS and post graduate degree in M.S. and M.D. will have to sit for this exam.

By giving this exam you can get admission to almost all possible MBBS colleges in India. So you dont need to give tons of exams and stress out so much.

NEET Eligibility Criteria:-

• Citizens of India and overseas citizens of India can sit for this exam.
  
• To sit for this exam you need to get 50% of marks in physics, chemistry and biology taken together.
  
• For SC/ST candidates the percentage to secure is 45% of marks.
  
• Your minimum age should b 17 when applying for this exam. It should not be less than that.
  
• There is a upper age limit of upto 5 years for the reserved category candidates.
  
• A maximum of three attempts is allowed for this exam.

Exam Pattern:-

The written exam is supposed to take place on 3rd of May 2013. You can give the exam both online and offline. Total time limit is three hours.

Questions will come from the following sections: Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. For each section 45 questions have been allotted. So you will have to answer 180 questions in all.

For each negative answer 1/4th marks will be deducted from the original score. The question paper will be set in both english and hindi.

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is a separate exams conducted by CBSE.
Its is just for medical colleges and has nothing to do with the engineering college admission.
The common Test for admission to the Engineering college is called ISEET

Eligibilty to apply to NEET exams is:

If you have the Biology subject in 10+2 then you are eligible to apply for the CBSE NEET Medical Entrance Exam.If you meet these Eligibility criteria then only you will eligible to apply for this exam.The marks required for medical entrance exam is very less as compared to Engineering Entrance Exam.

The max age limit is 25 years.

Earlier AIPMT exam was conducted for the 15 percent seats reserved under the All India quota. Now the AIPMT exam has been replaced with the NEET entrance exam. The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test not only replaces AIPMT but all other medical entrance exams in the country.

Earlier the All India Pre Medical Test had been conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education for the admission of candidates in MBBS Course.
