Re: Courses after 12th to become an astronaut?
dear friend
If you want to become a astronaut then you have to do Most Helpful High School Courses like- Chemistry, Biology, Computer science, AP® Calculus BC, AP Computer Science AB and AP Physics C and Take as many AP and Honors courses as possible. But, The ideal astronaut candidate would probably have a BS from the Air Force academy and a PhD from MIT or Cal Tech........ ok all the best. |

Re: Courses after 12th to become an astronaut?
Hello friend,
It is appreciable that you want to be an astronaut. Of course you can be , if you pass the stages involved in the whole process to become an astronaut. After passing 12th with physics as compulsory subject, you have to do B.Sc in space science or B.Tech in aeronautical engineering. After that you can do higher studies like Phd or M.phil in your specialised subject. By going through these stages, you can find your desired goal. Wish you best of luck! |

Re: Courses after 12th to become an astronaut?
NASA How to Get There? You have to acquire anyone of the following degree from a good institute like IIT or IISC or IIST (most suitable). Thats because it has been seen that students fron these Institute get plenty of oppurtunities to get there, and also there way becomes easy so far.
P.hd (Astro physics). P.hd (Geophysics). P.hd (Metaphysics) I mean to say any branch of physics which leads to space science, these are few examples. You can persue these degrees from IIT's or IISc, after acquiring these degrees from there you can appear for entrance conducted by NASA at international level for recruiting Astronauts,Scientists etc. but only best one can able to appear and crack it. You can also work with our country's ISRO various entrance are cionducted by ISRO for recruiting Scientists and engineers for carrying Space reasearch or various jobs related to R & D. M.tech/P.hd (Aerospace engineering) M.tech.P.hd (Aeronautical engineering) Better to pursue these degrees from IIST (http://www.iist.ac.in).IIST conducts Admission to its specialized courses which leads in space tecnhnology. For entering into IIST you have to crack ISAT or IITJEE after that you will be provided Admission into B.tech if you have good performance in B.tech then you would also offered M.tech or P.hd. all study there is free of cost, after acquiring degree from there you will be absorb as an Scientist of ISRO. Besides these you will also get opportunity to join NASA or work with NASA,the best place for astronauts in the World. They pay $1,00,000 to there scientists or astronauts. Six Indian Students were involved in LHC (Large Hadron Collidor) experiment at CERN, they from NIT, Durgapur and were M.tech student. I would also suggest all the askers to Read a Article "Astronaut Selection Process" HERE I am sure it will be much helpful for all of you. If problem persists please feel free to ask. Best of Luck Regards ~Faiyaz~ |

Re: Courses after 12th to become an astronaut?
I think so that you should firstly gives an engineering entrance examination may be aieee or iit. for this you should have good practice in physics, chemistry and maths. After having good rank in these exams take admission in good engineering college and choose your stream.

Re: Courses after 12th to become an astronaut?
Hello sanker,
For becoming an astronaut, you must concentrate on following subjects-physics,chemistry, mathematics, computer, statistics, discrete mathematics etc.in your 12th standard. After 12th you may take physics honors and master degree in physics will help you to become an astronaut......you may also go for phd in physics after your mater degree....so you please concentrate on your bachelor degree now....and you must score good in your bachelor degree... All the best.... |

Re: Courses after 12th to become an astronaut?
Hi!
If you want to join NASA as an astronaut pilot you must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in engineering, biological science, physical science, or mathematics. An advanced degree is desirable. So, the best course for you after 12th would be bachelor's degree in any one of the following discipline depending upon your interest.Quality of academic preparation is also important. Thus, whatever discipline you choose just make sure that you enroll yourself in the best institution for the respective discipline. |
