Renewable energy source is an indigenous environmental option. Renewable energy source is economically competitive with conventional power generation where good wind and solar resources could be put to use. When two energy sources are used, economy can be improvised and environment can be sustained. Hybrid renewable energy system is becoming very popular as it is composed of two or more energy sources. Hybrid energy systems are capable of optimizing the power supply especially in rural areas. The need of the hour is to disseminate ideas about hybrid renewable energy system and to put them into action for which eminent researchers and scientists gathered together for AITHRE’13. Two day National Conference was held on “Applications of AI Techniques for Hybrid Renewable Energy Systems”, conducted by Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, SRM University on March 21 and March 22, 2013 sponsored by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).

The main objective of this National Conference was to bring the Researches, Scientists, and Engineers of various disciplines in a single platform to discuss and disseminate their new inventions and innovative ideas relevant to Hybrid Renewable Energy Systems. This conference was uniquely designed to accommodate the diversified topics with a bearing on society, scientists and technologies.
