Re: Difference between CSIR NET and UGC NET?
Both the NETs (National Eligibility Tests) are national level tests conducted to determine
eligibility for lectureship in all Indian Universities/Institutes/Colleges. The only difference being that while UGC NET is conducted by University Grants Commission (UGC) for applied-science and non-science subjects, the CSIR-UGC NET is conducted by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) for pure-science subjects. The CSIR-UGC NET qualification also makes one eligible for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). The tests are conducted twice a year, generally in the months of June and December. |

Re: Difference between CSIR NET and UGC NET?
hi friend,
Both UGC-NET and CSIR-NET are different from each other in exam and job aspects. CSIR NET exam provides only five subjects 1. Chemical Sciences, 2. Earth Atmospheric Ocean and Planetary Sciences 3. Life Sciences 4. Mathematical Sciences 5. Physical Sciences Hence you can only apply only in these five discipline for govt. posts. check this link: http://csirhrdg.res.in/advnetd10.pdf In UGC NET there are so many subjects(more than 90), you can have your subjects in this list. Find them at http://www.ugc.ac.in/inside/net.html UGC NET will make you eligible for lecturership in colleges and CSIR-NET will make you eligible for the scientist or research fellow post released in CSIR institutions. |

Re: Difference between CSIR NET and UGC NET?
No. You cannot appear in UGC-NET exam because minimum qualification needed to appear in this exam is Post graduation in any subject. So if you do M. Sc. in Zoology then you will be able to appear.
So Best of luck... |

Re: Difference between CSIR NET and UGC NET?
JRF means Junior Research Fellowship. This is given for the students who are intrested in doing Ph. D. Normally when we finish with our masters degree we are about 23 years. So soon after our masters degree if we proceed with the Ph. D. studies that is research work then it is mostly better because our basics remain fresh. Knowledge of that particular subject remains fresh. As time passes slowly we tend to forget about our subject and get busy with our work. After 30 years its too late to proceed and I think because of this only they have put the age limit.
