Re: Difference between science and technology?
science is based on mere experimentation and observation whereas technology is an adaptation to the new techniques of applications.technology is always changing but science has its own basis which makes it a static one.in fact we can say that technology is a part of science.let us take an example......science says that earth exerts a gravitational pull, whereas technology keeping it in mind developed rockets, spaceships etc.

Re: Difference between science and technology?
Science is the study of forces and interactions between different "things", both animate and inanimate.
Technology can be referred to as things which we make, but were developed by applying Scientific law, knowing what such "things" are capable of doing. |

Re: Difference between science and technology?
hi
there is many difference in science and technology. that is:--- science is search for and theorizing about cause. but technology search for and theorizing about new processes. science is making virtually value-free statements but technology is activities always value-laden. science is analysis, generalization and creation of theories but technology is analysis and synthesis of design. many difference are there but i give you some difference .......... |

Re: Difference between science and technology?
Hello friend,
Science and Technology are interrelated as well as different to each other at certain extent. Science is basically the study of a phenomena whereas technology is the implementation of the scientific study to create products. If we know the difference between discovery and invention, it will be easier to differentiate between science and technology. When a particular thing is discovered, it means it already existed but was unknown to the mankind. Now, such thing is discovered only with the help of scientific study based on observation. Invention refers to creation of a new product or thing which never existed and every invention is the outcome of a technology. Technology leads to creation of products whereas, science leads to a logic. Technology is based on both scientific study as well as innovative ideas whereas, science is all about following accurate data and theories available. |

Re: Difference between science and technology?
SCIENCE-Science is an intellectual activity carried on by humans that is designed to discover information about the natural world in which humans live and to discover the ways in which this information can be organized into meaningful patterns
TECHNOLOGY-Technology" is the applied use of scientific discoveries to make instruments and tools that simplify our lives and make the jobs we do easier. Technology also provides for our entertainment and leisure in that it provides more time for leisure activities and also the instruments of the leisure activities we choose. |

Science is a systematic knowledge base and it can be broadly defined as the study of things with branches like biology, chemistry, physics and psychology. But technology is an applied science and it is the process of converting things or materials in such a manner that the material become more useful. Science is the study of forces and interactions between different things. But Technology can be referred to as things which we make, but were developed by applying Scientific law, knowing what such things are capable of doing. Science is knowledge which we get by studying different subjects. We learn about science by experiments and invent new things, But technology is the means by which man contols or modifies his natural environment through the use of scientific knowledge. So, Science is a very vast subject whereas Technology is a smaller aspect as compared to science. |

Re: Difference between science and technology?
Hi friend,
According to me to answer you shortly science is full of theories told by many scientists. And technology is the thing which makes all the theories in science as practical knowledge. For example a student when reading about rocket its science and when he become a rocket scientist he uses that studied science and at that time it becomes as a technology. |

but when we talk about technology it give an impression of a developed science stream. we can use science without knowing technology but we can not go through tech. without science. "if technology is the home the science is its concrete and bricks. "if tech. is body then science is its soul." |

Re: Difference between science and technology?
Science is the understanding and continuous exploration of the natural world. In short, it is a study of "As Is".
Technology is applying the outcome of scientific principles to innovate and improve the man-made things in the world. The output of Technology is a new or better process of doing. Example: The first understanding of steam as a form of water power capable of opening up a tightly closed tea-kettle lid is science. Then the making of a steam boiler prototype in a laboratory by continuous experimentation and finally arriving at the most efficient process is an example of technology Science refers to any systematic methodology . Technology is a broad concept that deals with a species' usage and knowledge of tools and crafts, and how it affects a species' ability to control and adapt to its environment. the main difference is that whatever reasearch is done in technology it should be such that it is fruitfull to humanity. but science tries to find out the facts related to an event, it has no any purpose. |

Re: Difference between science and technology?
science is the study and the knowledge thus obtained
from observing various phenomena. like the newtons laws the famous " why did the apple fall down" and the thus ensuing newtons laws. Darwin's theory about life etc. Technology on the other hand is the application of knowledge thus obtained for facilitating human activities and life. like the making refrigerator, or ac by using the heat sink to draw heat from inside and sink it outside. or the use of Cathode rays to make television. Thus technology is the use of science while science is everywhere and is the broader thing. |

Difference between science & Technology. Science :- Science is the search for the theorizing about cause. Reductionism, involving the isolation and definition of distinct concepts. Making virtually free statement pursuit of knowledge and understanding for its own sake. The basis of science is the conducting of experiment. Technology :- Technology is the search for the theorizing about new process. Technology refer generally to term of use, created form, applied science. A good example of this is the production of solar panels. Solar panel is used for the variety of different technologies. In brief : Science is the study of force and interaction between different things, both animate and inanimate. Technology can be referred to as things which we make but were developed by applying scientific law, knowing what such "things" are capable of doing. Regards ~Mukul~ |

Re: Difference between science and technology?
Great topic and Great replies everyone
Science is just the theoretical definition about various things on which analysis and testing must be performed whereas technology is something that has been developed for us and physically used by us. |

Re: Difference between science and technology?
Science can be called a systematic knowledge base developed through observation and experiment of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world. Technology is the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes.
Science is about the systematic arrival of conclusion or findings. It involves steps that establish the outcome of the findings. In short science can be called a systematic knowledge base. Technology on the contrary is applied science. Technology involves the use of tools as well as knowledge for the study of a particular science. Hence the term applied science is used to refer technology |

Re: Difference between science and technology?
science means knowing about something but technology means doing something based on that knowledge. Technology is the application of that knowledge. Science is a study of aspects under the various branches such as physics, chemistry and biology. In the case of technology, the science of radiation can be applied in the technology related to the development of the tools and advanced study of the application of radiation.

Re: Difference between science and technology?
Science can be easily defined as everything that surrounds us in raw form and Technology is something we have to apply on that raw material to get stuff that will be of our use
Good comments by everyone! |

Re: Difference between science and technology?
SCIENCE IS A DISCIPLINE THAT SEEKS KNOWLEDGE BY OBSERVING, EXPERIMENTING AND ANALYZING FACTS THUS COMES UP WITH AN ABSOLUTE PRINCIPLE OR LAW. CONTRASTINGLY, TECHNOLOGY IS THE APPLICATION OF SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE TO COME UP WITH SOLUTION FOR PROBLEMS AFFECTING MAN'S ENVIRONMENT.
