There will be two parts to it. The first will be on paper where you need to show your creativity and drawing capabilities. The second will be a computer based test. In this you will be tested on various areas including mental ability, analytical reasoning, creativity, imagination etc. This test will basically test on whether you have the capabilities to be an architect.

NATA Exam Pattern :
The exam will be of 3 hrs. One has to clear the NATA eligibility criteria before applying. The test is divided into 2 sections.

1.Drawing Test : It is paper based & is of 2 hrs. duration. It is judged on the aspects like sense of perspective drawing, ability to sketch a given object proportionately, creating interesting 2-D composition using given shapes & forms, understanding of scales & proportions, visualizing & drawing the effects of light on the object & shadows cast on surroundings, combining & composing given 3-D elements to form a building or structural form, creating visual harmony using colors in given composition and drawing from memory through pencil sketch on themes from day to day experiences.

2.Aesthetic Sensitivity Test : It is a computer based online test of 1 hr. duration. It is based on aspects like visualizing different sides of 3-D dimensional objects, analytical reasoning, imaginative comprehension & expression, visualizing 3-D objects from 2-D drawings, identifying commonly used materials & objects based on their textual qualities, mental ability and architectural awareness.

NATA exam pattern
The National Aptitude Test In Architecture exam is conducted for the amission in B.Arch courses.
The NATA exam is based on the following pattern.

This exam is divided into two sections

1.Drawing Section
The duration of this exam is 2 hrs.
In this exam the ability to sketch a given object , creating interesting 2-D composition, understanding of scales & proportions, visualizing & drawing the effects of light on the object & shadows etc are tested.

2.Aesthetic Sensitivity Test
This is an online examination . Duration of this exam is 1 hr.

Test Content

The test is in two parts.

A paper based drawing test for two hours and computer based online aesthetic sensitivity test for one hour.

The test measures aptitude of the candidate through two sections

First paper based section for drawing and computer based section for aesthetic sensitivity.

Drawing Test This is a two hour paper where candidate has to attempt two questions. One of the questions has two sub questions.

The drawing aptitude is judged on the following aspects

• Ability to sketch a given object proportionately and rendering the same in visually appealing manner.

• Visualising and drawing the effects of light on the object and shadows cast on surroundings.

• Sense of perspective drawing.

• Combining and composing given three dimensional elements to form a building or structural form.

• Creating interesting two dimensional composition using given shapes and forms.

• Creating visual harmony using colours in given composition. Understanding of scale and proportions.

• Drawing from memory through pencil sketch on themes from day to day experiences.

Aesthetic Sensitivity Test:

This is computer based test of one hour where candidate has to answer 40 multiple choice questions.

The aesthetic sensitivity test measures perception, imagination and observation, creativity and communication along with architectural awareness and comprises of

• Visualising three dimensional objects from two dimensional drawings. Visualising different sides of three dimensional objects.

• Indentifying commonly used materials and objects based on their textural qualities.

• Analytical reasoning.

• Mental Ability.

• Imaginative comprehension and expression.

• Architectural awareness.
