National Institute of Advanced Studies in Architecture (NIASA) organizes National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) annually for screening eligible aspirants for admission into Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch) course offered at various institutes in India. Most of the reputed Colleges and Universities in India consider the score obtained by the aspirant in NATA for admission into B. Arch course. Details regarding the exam are as follows.

Basic Eligibility for NATA

  • The aspirant should have passed Higher Secondary Examination (HSE) or its equivalent examination from a recognized University or Board or Institute to apply for this exam.
  • The aspirants currently appearing for the 10+2 exam are also eligible to attend the exam subject to some terms and conditions specified by the authority.
  • The aspirant should have studied Mathematics as one of the subjects in the qualifying examination.
  • The aspirant must have at least 50% marks in the qualifying examination and also in Mathematics separately.
  • The aspirant should be physically and mentally fit at the time of exam.

Structure and Pattern of NATA

The exam comprises of three sections. The first section includes a drawing paper of 120 minutes duration and the second section includes a computer-related online aesthetic sensitivity exam of 1 hour duration. The questions of the second section are of objective type format with multiple choices. There is no negative marking for wrong answers. The third section comprises of free hand sketching questions. The candidate has to obtain minimum 80% marks for qualifying in the exam. Some reputed Institutes will consider the marks obtained in 10+2 exam also along with the NATA score.

Age Qualification for NATA

The aspirant should have at least 17 years of age to appear for this exam. There is no upper limit specified yet.

Who can apply for NATA?

The applicant must be a citizen of India. Foreign candidates can also appear for the exam if they fulfill certain extra eligibility criterion as specified by the authority and they have to produce the certificates and documents specifying the same at the time of test.

Application Procedure for NATA

The aspirants can apply for the exam by both online and offline modes. In the offline mode, they can send a request to the authority asking for an application form by post. They have to send a DD of specified amount along with the request to the mentioned address. In the online mode they can download the application form directly from the official website of NIASA. After filling the form, they can send it to the corresponding address along with the required documents.
