I intend to apply for Mtech in ECE in TANCA 2012. I was wondering if a valid GATE 2011 score is sufficient to apply in GATE category since GATE2011 score has 2 years validity.
Also, is there any preferance to GATE qualified applicants?

Yes. Since your GATE score is valid for 2012 also , you can definitely apply with your GATE score for counselling.You can pursue M.Tech in good colleges with a decent GATE score. A rank list separately for GATE qualified candidates is released for TANCET counselling every year . So, they also take GATE score to preference. All the best.
