what do i take after i have cleared my HSC to become a custom officer?

Hi,

To become a custom officer, you will have to write Civil Services Examination conducted every year by UPSC. This exam provides entry into 27 different services which includes Indian Customs and Central Excise Services.

The basic eligibility for this exam is graduation. So, take admission for graduation course in any good recognized college and concentrate on your studies keeping in mind that you have to appear for civil services examination after graduation.

The main Functions performed by Custom Officer are :-

• Prevent Banned Items from Entering or Leaving the country.
• To collect Taxes and Duties of Imported Products and Materials.
• Preventing Smuggling and Illegal Trade.
  

The mains service areas of Custom Officer's is in Airports and Seaports.The basic Functions performed by it are :-

• Search Luggage,Vehicles and Travelers.
• Prepare reports and Witness statements.
• Checking of custom documents etc.

At present you are not eligible to apply for this exam.In order to become a custom officer you will have to apply for UPSC Graduation Level Exam.To apply for this exam,you will need to meet these Eligibility conditions :-


Academic qualification :-

• You should have a bachelor degree in any discipline from recognized university.
• Your bachelor degree should be of at least 3 year's.

Age :-

• Your minimum age should be 21 years.
• Your age should not be above 30 year's.

As you are at preliminary stage so from now onwards you should start preparation for preliminary stage.The topics which you can study by yourself related to this exam are :-

• English Grammar and Comprehension.
• Decision Making and Problem Solving.
• Numerical ability and Data Interpretation.
• General Mental ability.
• Interpersonal Skills including Communication Skills.

It will be better for you if you will take History/Economics/Social Science in Graduation as most of the questions are asked from these sections in Preliminary Exam of UPSC.

Custom officer post is very challenging post. to become a coustom officer you should physically fit.

To become Custom officer you have to complete you graduation. A candidate which completed graduation or final year of his graduation can apply for Custom officer exam.

UPEC conducts civil service exam for various posts. custom officer exam also comes under civil service exam.for custom officer you have to apply for civil service exam.

civil service exam is conducted in two phases first you have to apply for perliminary exam and then for Main exam. if you clear pre and main then you called for personal interview. this is the selection procedure of custom officer.

In UPSC exam question related to Reasoning,G.K,Maths and English are asked. you have to prepare these question.

>> How to become a custom officer ?
The function of a Custom Department is to control the import and export of goods with the purpose of collecting duty and maintain a check on the entry of prohibited and restricted goods. The custom officer ensures that smuggling does not take place.

>> Qualifying Examination :-
In order to become a Custom Officer, the aspirant will have to appear for the Civil Services Examination. It is conducted by UPSC - Union Public Service Commission. This entrance exam provides entry into 27 different services which includes the Indian Customs & Central Excise Services. The civil services exam conducted in two separate parts. They are the preliminary and main exam. Those who are selected are either sent to Chennai for training in the functions of Customs Department or those selected for Central Excise Service training is done in one of the metropolitan cities.

A Bachelor's degree is the basic qualification. A Custom Officer who is working under the Government of India should be above 19 years and must have completed graduation.
The aspirant must score above 55% of marks and then only he/she can apply. The admit cards are sent out based on the merit achieved in graduation level. The notifications are published in the employment newspaper and other prominent periodicals.
The exam is conducted annually but there are many other private companies which offers the same job.

To prepare for Union Public Service Commission exams, the candidate needs to be aware of all current affairs. His/Her general awareness must be good. Reading of newspapers regularily will be of help. The aspirants should have good knowledge in English, G.K., and basic Mathematics etc as the entire exam is based on these subjects and followed by the selection and interview.

In order to become Custom Officer , you have to qualify civil service exam , which is conducted by UPSC every year .


Educational Qualification : The minimum Qualification is Graduation with minimum 50% from recognized college .

Age limit : 21- 27 years ( General Category)
21-30 years ( OBC)
21-32 years ( SC/ST)

Selection Procedure : You need to sit for Combined Graduate Level Exam , and have to clear 1st stage , then 2nd stage , then interview round .

CUSTOMS OFFICER:
For Customs officer you need to qualify Civil Services Exam conducted by UPSC.
Customs officers mainly take care of import and Export materials.
