How can I study for astronomy?


I want to know about galaxies nd stars . So i want to astronomy. But what line i follow after passing 12th (iit or general line like b.s.c nd m.s.c ?

i m a atudent of class 11th i m keenly intrested in astronomy and wish to have a career in this field what can be the the shortest path to reech in this field no matter how much hard work it needs shold i prefer to crack iit or any alternative should i choose ?
