You can register for CPT course after passing 12th board exam in any discipline.
You can also register for the same during studying Std. 12th but you must pass the
board exam for your CPT score to become valid.
There is no percentage restriction as such.
12th pass with any percentage (which is assumed passed in the respective board) is
the sufficient qualification for CPT course.

Common Proficiency Test is the first stage of Chartered Accountancy course. You can register for the exam after completing 10th standard however you can appear only after completing 12th standard.

Therefore please ensure that you have completed 12th standard. Subjects taken in 12th do not matter. You simply have to complete 12th standard. The Common Proficiency Test has two sections.

Each section of the Common Proficiency Test has 2 subjects.

1. Fundamentals of Accounting + Mercantile Laws

2. Economics + Quantitative Aptitude

There are 200 questions in the exam with each correct answer will get you 1 mark. There is also 0.25 negative marking on each wrong answer. You need to score 30 percent marks in each section of the Common Proficiency Test to clear the exam. The total marks in all four subjects should be 50 percent.

If you have completed graduation then it is not always necessary to appear for the Common Proficiency Test. You can apply for the exemption if meets the following criteria.

1. 55% in Commerce graduation

2. 60% in non commerce graduation.

Next will be IPCC. You can register for it by either clearing Common Proficiency Test or through direct admission with exemption from CPT. The IPCC course also has 2 groups of exams.

You will first have to study for 9 months after which you can appear for the first group. It should be followed by registering for 3 years mandatory articleship. After which you should appear for the second group.

IPCC Group 1

1.Accounting

2.Business Laws, Ethics and Communication

3.Cost Accounting and Financial Management

4.Taxation

IPCC Group 2

5.Advanced Accounting

6. Auditing and Assurance

7. Information Technology and Strategic Management
