Re: How to prepare for GATE 2016 Civil branch?
See, the approach at this time is very crucial.
Gate is an exam highly specific related to your technical field and you should opt this option only if you want to do M.tech in your future or wants to join any PSU's. PSU's do recruit a lot of candidates from branches like Civil and that's why this branch has been made available for the GATE exam. Let us help you out by providing the road map in form of the steps- >> Since you are in 4th year, so start taking coachings. They will plant a competitive feeling in you and will also help you in many ways. >> Start focusing on those subjects which are in the syllabus of GATE and give less importance to those which are not. >> Prepare a time table. Keep a balance between your preparations for GATE and college. Do not ever mix the two, because then the result will be catastrophic. Also, self study plays a very important role in the preparation. So it is very important that you maintain a balance between the two. All the best. |

Re: How to prepare for GATE 2016 Civil branch?
# Few useful tips regarding GATE are mentioned below:
* Fixed the duration of self-study. Fixed the number of hours for self-study. Allot extra time on difficult subjects/topics. * Take help from notes of toppers or previous qualified candidates. * You must be fully aware of the syllabus and pattern of the GATE. * Avoid hurry in the preparation of GATE. Keep in mind that "slow and steady wins the race". Firstly focus on consolidation of basic concepts, units, definitions, dimensions, equations etc. * Spend adequate time on solving numericals and multiple choice questions. * Try to solve more and more questions quickly. You must have "Speed with Accuracy". Only the good speed with good accuracy rate will ensure good chances of selection. * Keep one day of week for revision of studied matter. This particular day you should revise all the studied matter during last six days. * Solve out old and model question papers. # Names of few best books for GATE are mentioned below: * GATE Tutor 2016 - Civil Engineering by Prasant Dixit * Civil Engineering (Objective and Conventional Type) by JK Gupta * GATE - Mentor 2016 Civil Engineering by Cengage Learning India Pvt. Re: How to prepare for GATE 2016 Civil branch?
It is very important for you to do the following things:
You should have a specific time table for the rest of the year. No matter what happens stick to this time table. You must surely include study time for college study time for GATE and also time for one recreational activity. Start by joining coaching classes(it is not necessary but there is no one else who can give you a better guidance). The type of studying needed to be done for your college and GATE are different and you should keep it that way. The most important thing is to stick to the syllabus of GATE and not try to study everything, you will just run out of time. |
