Dear pal,
it is not easy to get university rank . One need to put more effort in order to achieve a good position in the exam . Few tips for achieving it .
1.you need to prepare from the first day of your semester
2. For mathematical subjects you need to listen to class and understand the concepts
3.practice more sums in all the concepts and try all the possible cases
4.refer more books. Prefer book by a standard author
5.prepare for the exam based on the syllabus do not omit any heading
6. Do not study for exam sake .study them for helping your career.
All the best

In semester exams, to get good marks, you should plan the time table according to unit wise. Allot equal time for all the units because all the units carry equal marks. In each unit, divide the time for each topic according to the topics you are perfect. Take more time for the topics which you feel were hard and takes much time and take less time for the topics you are already knowing and perfect.
Don't leave any topic in any unit and try to understand each and every point that you are reading and don't buttify any topic.
So dont worry and prepare well according to the time table and you will definately get good marks.
So, All the best

For this you have to make a good Time Table.. manage your time and follow some simple tips and tricks..

1) Sleep well and rise early in the morning. morning time is good for study.

2) Make a Time Table and follow it strictly.

3) Use text Books for preparing for semester exams. use reference books for deep knowledge.

4) Use Lecture notes as is in semester exams there is 80% chances of the topics and questions to be asked in exams which are discussed by professor in lectures.

Getting an university rank isn't easy, off-course one who tries hard can get it easily. My idea is to refer the class notes regularly and clear your doubts the next day because getting an university rank by studying in study holidays may not help you.the best authors which i prefer for
Engg. Graphics -Frederick E. Giesecke
Engg. mathematics - G.Balaji,B.S. Grewal,R.K. Jain

Getting top ranks is not so easy but also not so difficult.First of all before giving any exam it is must to understand the pattern of that exam.Once you understood the pattern than your work is to get the syllabus of your exam. Now you have to collect the last 5 years paper of your subject so that you can completely understand the pattern questions which are frequently asked.

If you do it correctly and according also with the help of your professors you can try to get best marks. The rank will be depend how the other students appear in examination. You have to do your best sincerely rest the god will do good.
